The parties began the economic phase of negotiations today. All proposals are now on the table with 10 days left until the expiration of the current contract.
There has been union members curious for more information than has previously been reported on the web site.
The negotiations process is many hours and days of discussion of the issues with very few issues being agreed to until a total agreement is reached, most likely on the final day. These negotiations have been no different. Much time has been spent on 12 hour shifts and an agreement on the issue is likely.
All the proposals submitted by the members have been considered by the committee and most every proposal has been discussed in negotiations to date.
We are a long ways from an agreement on a total package. The Company has Pension and Medical proposals on the table that Lodge 2544 has made clear are simply unacceptable.
